If you’re out shopping for the wee ones in your life, there are plenty of amazing kids stores Downtown Nanaimo.

Pumpkin Pie Kids

The first stop on anyone’s kids’ shopping spree should be Pumpkin Pie Kids. This fabulous kids’ store is located in the Old City Quarter and has been open for 21 years. They have a massive assortment of children’s items; baby gear for bath time, teething items, diapers, baby carriers, the list goes on and on! There’s also babywear for casual, formal, swim and sleep, plus formal and casual wear for girls and boys up to size 8.

In addition to clothing, they sell all kinds of shoes from boots to runners. They offer some toys for the smaller ages, lots of fun bath toys here. Pumpkin Pie now has an online store too, but for the full experience, visit the store downtown Nanaimo and relishing in the beauty of the Old City Quarter.

The Children’s Treehouse

Next on the list: The Children’s Treehouse. Though this one’s a little bit out of the way, located at the Country Club Centre, it’s well worth the drive. This kids’ store is full of fun goodies for all ages. They have sand toys, kites and beach balls, plus tons of books and puzzles: toys for all seasons. Plus a great selection of the classic Playmobil and train sets. They do offer some clothing for the wee little ones, as well as lots of fun toys for that stage in life. This is definitely one of the most engaging kids stores around.

Unique & Eccentric

Jumping back downtown, if you’re a bargain shopper who doesn’t mind used items, you might just hit gold at Charlie’s Closet. This quaint consignment store on Fitzwilliam Street in the Old City Quarter offers gently used clothing on consignment, from kids to XXL sizes. Just a few steps away is Mycollectables Vintage Toy Store, a treasure trove for the kid who prefers a more classic toy collection.

A little something for the shopper too, of course!

After a long day of shopping for the kiddos, you’ve undoubtedly earned an adult treat – a Nanaimo Bar Martini from the Modern Café downtown, perhaps? Or, if you’re out shopping with the wee ones in tow you could stop into the Bee’s Knee’s Cafe to enjoy a hot cup of coffee in a family-friendly environment (toys provided).
